Still Rockin’ It Old School

I am a techie. I love my computer. I love my Android phone.

Apps? Yeah, I got them.

Online solutions? Yeah, I’ll find them.

Websites? Yeah, I’ll code them.

To do lists? Yeah, I still rock it old school with a legal pad and a pen.

I have tried all kinds of task managers, online apps, phone apps, digital systems of all kinds. But when it comes down to it, I still function best off a legal pad. I do use a Pomodoro App on my phone to keep myself on track.

The Pomodoro technique is extremely helpful for someone like me who has some attention span issues. I focus on a task for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break and then come back to the project or start a new one if I completed my previous task.

Joshua Leatherman writes more about batching based time management on Michael Hyatt’s website.

So how do you manage your tasks?

Old School? New School? A Blend?

Change… is.

Starbucks Logo Changes

Change is usually good.

Change is often bad.

Time will tell if change is good or bad, but by then things have changed and we have changed. What is good or bad to us has often changed.

Sometimes the change is that things don’t change anymore. Or maybe it’s that they change all the time.

Sometimes a change is needed to enact change. Sometimes a change is needed to stop change.

We are changing. We have stopped changing.

The message remains unchanged while it is always changing. The means need changing because they have always needed changing. Our short hind-sightedness only allows us to see what change failed. Or maybe what change worked.

Sometimes people are the change.

Sometimes people need the change.

Change is…

Correction.

Change just is.

There is a time to embrace changes in your life, a time to stand resiliently against them. A time to initiate change and a time to hold back.

What time is it your life?

Dangers in Conforming

Though it may be dangerous to conform to the ideas of others, it may be more so to conform to your own.

Ministry and Balance

Ministry is often the balance between the urgency of missional calling and the patient willingness needed to guide God’s people to acknowledge and act upon that calling.
